Matvienko commented on the possibility of changes in the law on foreign agents

The Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, said that she does not see any discrimination against the media within the framework of the law on foreign agents. This is reported by TASS.

According to Matvienko, citizens need to be aware that this or that organization or the media uses foreign funding.

“There should be transparency and openness to society,” the parliamentarian stressed.

“There is no discrimination against such organizations or the media,” the chairman of the Federation Council said

The parliamentarian also added that there is no question of repealing the law on foreign agents, but the Federation Council can adjust this law if law enforcement practice indicates such a need.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the law on foreign agents in Russia cannot be canceled, since it allows to resist pressure on Russian journalists and attempts to influence the political life of the country from abroad.
