Murashko: the death rate from tuberculosis in Russia has decreased five times in 20 years

The head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko said that the death rate from tuberculosis in Russia has reached a historic low.

The Minister spoke at a joint event between Russia and the WHO dedicated to the elimination of this disease, RIA Novosti reports.

Murashko said that in Russia over the past 20 years, the incidence of tuberculosis has decreased almost three times.

At the same time, the mortality rate from this disease has decreased five times and reached a historical minimum, the head of the Ministry of Health noted.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, since 2010, the incidence of tuberculosis in the country per 100 thousand people has more than doubled: from 77.2 to 32.3 cases. Last year, tuberculosis was first detected in almost 47.4 thousand people.
