NGO Spolecnost Svobody Informace, Z. S. recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has recognized the activities of the international non-governmental organization (NGO) Spolecnost Svobody Informace, Z. S. as undesirable in Russia, the press service of the department reported.

The text clarifies that the decision to recognize the activities of the NGO Spolecnost Svobody Informace, Z. S. (“Society for Freedom of Information, Z. S.”, Czech Republic) as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation was made on June 29, “based on the results of studying the received materials”.

The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that the organization’s activities pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional system and the security of Russia.

Information about the decision was sent to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. The information will be included in the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activities are considered undesirable in Russia.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office found that the educational organization Bard College threatens the foundations of the constitutional system and the security of the Russian Federation and recognized it as undesirable in Russia.

We should add that the State Duma has tightened the responsibility for participation in undesirable NGOs. Criminal liability is provided for such activities on the territory of Russia.
