Retailers do not expect a shortage of tangerines in Russian stores

The suspension of the import of tangerines, pomegranates and some other vegetables and fruits from Turkey and Iran to Russia should not lead to their shortage, the Association of Retail Trade Companies (ACORT) reported.

“At the moment, there is no risk of a shortage of fruit and vegetable products. Retail chains work with several suppliers, which ensures uninterrupted supply and availability of products for consumers,” Igor Karavaev, chairman of the ACORT Presidium, told TASS.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import of lemons, tangerines, peppers, grapes, pomegranates from Turkey and Iran due to the found residual amounts of 12 pesticides, 10 of which are not allowed for use in Russia.

In total, supplies from 33 manufacturers of the two countries were banned. Thanks to the measures taken, about 60 thousand tons of Turkish grapes and more than 10 thousand tons of pomegranates were not allowed to be imported into the country.

In early November, Belarus banned the export of buckwheat from the country for three months.
