Scientists: child mortality in the Russian Federation has fallen by 56 since 2000%

Scientists have found that over the past 20 years, the mortality rate of children under the age of five in Russia has decreased by 56% compared to 2000, writes The Lancet.

According to experts, by 2030, the mortality rate among newborns in the Russian Federation will fall to three cases per thousand.

To implement these plans, an increase in funding for the children’s healthcare system will be required, the study indicates.

Earlier, the Russian government approved a plan for implementing the concept of demographic policy in the country. The priorities are to improve the quality and accessibility of medical care, as well as care for the older generation.
