Telman Ismailov received asylum in Montenegro

The businessman Telman Ismailov, who was detained at the request of the Russian Federation, the ex-owner of the Cherkizovsky market, received political asylum in Montenegro, reports TASS with reference to lawyer Marina Rusakova.

As the lawyer clarified, there will be no extradition to Russia, the businessman was released from the detention center.

According to the Vijesti portal, the decision to release Ismailov was made by the judge of the Podgorica Supreme Court, Vladimir Novovich. “The accused Telman Ismailov is immediately released,” the document says.

Earlier it was reported that the Prosecutor General’s Office sent a request to Montenegro for the extradition of Ismailov. 

Recall that Telman Ismailov was charged in absentia with the murder of businessmen Vladimir Savkin and Yuri Brylev, illegal arms trafficking and the abduction of singer Avraham Russo. He was arrested by the Podgorica court on October 2.

The businessman did not admit his guilt and requested political asylum.
