The connection between youth and science. The project “Space for children” was launched in Kaluga

On September 17, Kaluga hosted events dedicated to the launch of the charity project “Space” for children, which was timed to coincide with the birthday of the scientist, the founder of cosmonautics Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, as well as to the 650th anniversary of the founding of Kaluga and to the 60th anniversary of the first human flight into space.

Amphibious aircraft and performance

A striking event was the landing of an amphibious L-42 aircraft on the water of the Yachensky Reservoir in front of the K. E. Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics. It was piloted by the pilot-cosmonaut of the USSR Sergey Krikalev and the chairman of the ANO “Flying Generation” Vladimir Borisov. On the embankment, the pilots talked with the Kaluzhans. Sergey Krikalev said that the flight from Moscow took one hour, he also stressed that the landing at the museum was pleasant and comfortable.

Oleg Kalugin noted the symbolism of the original method of Sergey Krikalev’s arrival in Kaluga on the birthday of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky: “This is actually an idea for creating a hydroport. In the park named after K. E. Tsiolkovsky, the participants of the events honored the memory of the scientist by laying flowers at his grave.

The Museum of the History of Cosmonautics hosted a press conference dedicated to the opening of the charity project, as well as the premiere screening of the play “The Pilot and the Little Prince” created within its framework based on the famous work Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

The directors of the play — Russian director Dmitry Pavlov (Saint Petersburg), artist Dmitry Bobrovich (Ulyanovsk) and the actors of the Kaluga Puppet Theater created a stage platform within the walls of the museum. The prologue and the finale of the story about the prince in the play were voiced by Sergey Krikalev.

According to Elena Metelkovskaya, there will be ten charity screenings of the production in the museum. The performance is aimed at the younger generation. The first spectators were Kaluga schoolchildren.

In his welcoming address, the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Budget and Financial Markets Anatoly Artamonov I congratulated Kaluzhan on the start of the charity project: “I am sure that the performance, which was created based on this fairy tale, will teach the audience kindness, responsiveness, faith in beauty, and also attract the attention of children and adults to the issues of studying science and conquering space.”
