The farewell to the president of the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, Yasen Zasursky, will take place on August 4 in the courtyard of the university’s journalism faculty, he will be buried at the Troyekurov Cemetery, RIA Novosti reports.

A public ceremony of farewell and laying flowers to the coffin will begin at 12.30 at the monument to Lomonosov, everyone will be able to say goodbye to the scientist. 

The faculty also clarified that due to the unstable epidemiological situation, the funeral service will be held in a narrow circle of family members and closest friends in the church of St. Tatiana on Mokhovaya Street.

Meanwhile, the university decided to create a commission to perpetuate the memory of Yasen Zasursky, which will be headed by the rector of Moscow State University, academician Viktor Sadovnichy. Among the proposed initiatives are the introduction of the Zasursky Scholarship, the renaming of one of the streaming classrooms in his honor and the creation of a museum from the office where the faculty president worked.

Yasen Zasursky died on August 1 at the age of 92. He has worked at the Faculty of Journalism since its foundation, holding the position of dean of the journalism faculty of Moscow State University for over 40 years.

Earlier, the MSU journalism faculty was offered to assign the name of Yasen Zasursky and install a monument to the president on the balustrade.
