The Soyuz-2.1a rocket with a military satellite launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome

The Russian Aerospace Forces conducted a successful launch of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle with a military satellite on board on Saturday, TASS reports.

The launch was carried out at 10:00 Moscow time from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. As specified in the defense Department, all pre-launch operations and the launch of the rocket were carried out in a regular manner.

It is worth noting that this is the first launch of a medium-class Soyuz-2 launch vehicle in 2022.

Earlier, the American company SpaceX launched a rocket with a giant secret satellite NROL-87 of the National Directorate of Military Space Intelligence of the United States. The satellite is presumably intended for electronic reconnaissance.
