The age limit for the purchase and registration of weapons should be tied to the specifics of the region, this requirement should not be the same for all subjects, this opinion was expressed in an interview with Газетой.ги member of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Anatoly Vyborny.
“In some regions, hunting is a source of food and earnings,” the parliamentarian said. He proposed to delegate the responsibility for determining the age limit to the regions.
At the same time, Vyborny stressed, cases when a person can buy weapons in another region should be reduced to nothing.
The parliamentarian also supported the initiative of the Tatarstan deputies, who approved the legislative initiative on amendments to the Federal Law “On Weapons” to raise the age of acquisition of weapons from 18 to 21 years.
As previously reported, the authors of the initiative propose to amend the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation to increase from 500 to 5000 rubles fines for violating the rules of storage of weapons and introduce the possibility of their confiscation.
