The TFR reported the detention of two more members of Basayev’s gang

Law enforcement officers detained two more members of the gang of Shamil Basayev and Emir Khattab, who attacked the settlements of the Botlikh district of Dagestan in 1999. This is reported on the website of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that we are talking about the natives of the Stavropol Territory Albert Elakaev and Alimkhan Musayev. They are suspected of banditry, armed rebellion, encroachment on the lives of servicemen and law enforcement officers.

Recall that in June of this year, the UK reported on the detention of another gang member, Magomed Alkhanov. Before that, the court detained Bagaudin Kuvanayev, a resident of the Stavropol Territory, who was also a member of the Basayev and Khattab gang.

In August 1999, at least 1,000 armed militants attacked Russian servicemen in Dagestan. As a result, 33 people were killed and 34 others were injured.

The department noted that law enforcement officers continue to identify the participants of the attack who are hiding from justice.
