NASA will send the first fully commercial crew to the ISS in 2022

The head of the NASA manned flight program, Kathy Leaders, said that the launch of the spacecraft with the first fully commercial crew of Axiom Space on the ISS is scheduled for February 21, 2022, Interfax reports.

“Great news, we are planning to launch the Axiom-1 mission to the ISS on February 21,” it will be the first private space mission on the station with the support of Axiom, ” Leaders noted.

It is reported that the launch vehicle will be launched from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The crew, consisting of four people, will spend eight days on the station, working together with the astronauts.

Earlier, the NASA press service reported that European and Japanese astronauts returned to the International Space Station after a spacewalk that lasted more than six and a half hours.

Thomas Pesquet and Akihiko Hoshide installed equipment on the support segment P4 of the ISS truss for mounting a new pair of more powerful IROSA solar panels, which will be delivered to the station by the Cargo Dragon cargo spacecraft of the American company SpaceX in 2022.
