The military of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet), veterans and public figures honored the memory of the crew of the diesel submarine S-178, who died 40 years ago in Primorye. Wreaths and flowers were laid at the mass grave of submariners. The event was attended by the Honor Guard company and the Pacific Fleet Orchestra.
The diesel medium submarine S-178 of the Pacific Fleet was lost on October 21, 1981 as a result of a collision with the RFU “Refrigerator-13”. As a result of the emergency, 32 people were killed. The mass grave of the crew members of the deceased submarine is located in the memorial part of the Marine Cemetery. Monument to the crew of the submarine “C-178” createdat the initiative of submariners and installed at the Naval Cemetery of the city of Vladivostok at the burial place of the dead submariners. It was opened in 1982, on the first anniversary of the death of the submarine. The monument is a metal fence of the conning tower of a submarine of the type “C”, mounted on a granite pedestal.
