The authorities of the Taimyr district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory declared a municipal emergency mode in connection with the death of 56 reindeer on the bank of the Khatanga River. This is stated on the website of the regional administration.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two deer have gunshot wounds, the rest of the animals died while crossing the river. A criminal case has been initiated against unidentified persons under the article “Illegal hunting with causing major damage”.
The results of tests for anthrax disease of the found individuals were negative. The district authorities believe that the bulk of the dead animals weakened and drowned while crossing the river. Most of the dead animals are deer calves.
The day before, the prosecutor’s office also reported the discovery of hundreds more reindeer carcasses. The remains of 700 individuals were lifted from the bottom and stored on the bank of the Khatanga River in Taimyr, about 500 still remain in the water.
Recall that at the end of May, the cause of the death of deer in the Tigilsky district of Kamchatka was famine, then about 300 carcasses were found.
