In Russia, they propose to introduce mandatory life jackets when bathing children

The head of the public movement “For Safety” Dmitry Kurdesov sent a proposal to the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Zinichev to introduce the mandatory use of children’s vests when visiting reservoirs, reports RT.

He noted that during the summer season, news about the death of children while swimming in reservoirs often appears in the media. The most vulnerable group is children under the age of six. They often do not have the necessary swimming skills and sufficient muscle mass to independently rise to the surface in case of going under water.

In addition, Kurdesov stressed that adults in emergency situations, trying to help a child, often make irrational decisions and risk their own lives.

He proposed to introduce mandatory use of special inflatable children’s swimming vests for children under the age of six years inclusive when visiting reservoirs and options for administrative responsibility for ignoring this rule by adults.

In early July, a child and two men drowned in the Black Sea near Anapa. Later, the body of another deceased was found there. The boy began to be carried away by the current, his father, his friend and three eyewitnesses tried to save him.
