The State Duma adopted a law on strengthening control over the circulation of weapons

The State Duma adopted in the third final reading a law that strengthens state control over the circulation of weapons and tightens the passage of medical examinations for obtaining a permit to own them, the official website of the legislative body reports.

The explanatory note to the document notes that the law is proposed to be supplemented with the concept of “medical contraindications to the possession of weapons”. The list of relevant diseases will be established by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The law adopted by the deputies also introduces a ban on the acquisition, storage, carrying and use of weapons by persons who have not passed an examination for the presence of medical contraindications.

This commission will be conducted exclusively by medical organizations of the state or municipal health care system. During the study, chemical and toxicological tests will be conducted for the presence of drugs and psychotropic substances in the body, as well as psychiatric examination.

If the owner of the weapon is found to have diseases that are on the list, information about this will be posted in the appropriate register and sent to Rosgvardiya.

The citizen will have to pass an extraordinary medical examination within 30 days. During this period, he will be seized weapons and permission to own them. In case of failure to issue a medical report or evasion of the examination, the right to own and use weapons will be revoked.

Recall that a day earlier, the State Duma deputies also adopted in the first reading a government bill on the inclusion of vaccination against COVID-19 in the national calendar of preventive vaccinations.
