Vilfand warned about dangerous weather in several regions of the Russian Federation

Heavy precipitation with thunderstorms, wind squalls up to 20-27 m/s are expected in Sochi, Crimea, Rostov and Saratov regions. The same unfavorable weather conditions are waiting for residents of North Ossetia, Adygea, Stavropol Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria, Evenki district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the next two days. This was told to TASS by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand.

According to the forecaster, the most dangerous weather will be in the Crimea, where more than 50 mm of precipitation will fall. Tornadoes may form over the sea in the Krasnodar Territory.

Very heavy rains are expected on August 14-15 in the Evenki district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In the Saratov region, showers, thunderstorms, wind up to 25 m/s in places and large hail are predicted, which can threaten not only crops and cars, but also people’s health.

The head of the Hydrometeorological Center, in an interview with the agency, highly appreciated the work of meteorologists from the regions, who timely informed local residents and government agencies about the bad weather in the south of Russia on August 11. “The forecasts of Roshydromet were justified and helped to minimize the sad consequences,” Vilfand summed up.

The rains that began at the beginning of the week will continue in the Abinsky, Crimean, Slavyansky, Temryuk, Primorsko-Akhtarsky, Krasnoarmeysky and Kalininsky districts, Gelendzhik, Anapa and Novorossiysk. Up to 150 mm of precipitation is expected to fall there per day. At the same time, a three – month precipitation rate of 120 mm has already fallen in Anapa since the evening of August 12. 

The state of emergency was introduced due to the deterioration of weather conditions in Anapa and Novorossiysk, then in the Temryuk and Slavyansky districts.
