The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, said that due to global warming, Russians are waiting for an increase in the number of extreme natural phenomena, the Parliamentary newspaper writes.
The weather forecaster explained that in the south of the European part of the country, the climate will become more arid, and in the north, on the contrary, there will be more precipitation.
“In addition, we are waiting for an increase in extreme natural phenomena. This is especially true for waves of abnormal heat in summer. According to Roshydromet, over the last quarter of a century, the number of dangerous phenomena has doubled,” he explained.
Earlier, Vilfand told what winter will be like in European Russia. He noted that the fluctuations are associated with global warming. According to the forecaster, temperatures are expected to be five degrees above normal in the central part of European Russia at the very end of November. At the same time, in the north of European Russia, frosts can reach minus 20 degrees.
